After all, I wouldn’t download the windows 7 or 8 connector software from the server? That may not be what you are finding, but it is accurate. You also have to add a line to the registry to make this happen. Once you connect to the Server you are shown the screenshot I posted above – asking you to “download the software for windows 7 and 8” – which is confusing since you’re connecting a Windows 10 machine. I just want to focus on Windows 10 and in a little more detail.

In this post we will just be looking at Windows 10 and Server R2 Essentials. Here is the overview table from the Blog Post. This only installs the connector software. We need now to actually use the connector software to join to the Essentials Server.
