But I’m not sure what the current status is of “game mode” on Windows It’s a cool idea reducing background tasks and such but I’ve never really seen a positive review of it. Does anybody run with this on and have you had it on in MSFS ?

What has your experience been with it? My primary interest in game mode is the built-in FPS counter but there are plenty of other ways to do that so if game mode is questionable then I’ll probably just opt for something else. Well it’s likely to vary from system to system anyway so the best thing to do is give it a try.

Fly for a while with it on and then with it off. See if you notice a difference on your system. With anything better than 4 logical cores it does more harm than good, anyway it takes only a few minutes to try it Just had a try on the fly with developer mode on. Game mode on of off, made no significant change in FPS for me. I leave it off. I once played Windows 10 in a casino, and the main purpose of this mode, which you describe, is to improve the stability of FPS in games.

This mode has nothing to do with overclocking. It should be noted right away that this innovation does not always allow increasing the number of FPS in diablo 2 runes games. And I noticed that a powerful computer does without a mode, but the “so-so” hardware option when starting the game is accompanied by the shutdown of most programs and processes. The gaming mode is most effective when the computer has to cope with many tasks at once – the installed Game Mode turns them off or takes them into the background and leaves all the power of the processor and video card for games.

If one program is running then the PC simply cannot find where to cut something in order to optimize it. But this situation happened to me with online games, and pre-installed, like the sims. You may have other features and it is important to consider the weight of the game package.

I have W10 Pro on my laptop as well and that has the Gaming mode with the same version of Windows 10 Pro. Below is a picture of my Windows 10 Pro version if this helps:.

Additionally, when I launch a game with the Xbox app and I get an achievement, the noise that I’ve gotten it pops off, but I don’t see a notification on my screen for it, so I don’t know what achievements I’m getting.
